前几年猪肉价格持续低迷，但今年猪肉价格上涨，达到历史新高。回顾中国近年来的猪肉价格波动，大家发现存在一个明显的猪周期。

猪周期（hog cycle），也可以叫做pork cycle，是一种经济现象（economic phenomenon），指价高伤民，价贱伤农的周期性提供和价格波动（cyclical fluctuations2 of supply and prices）怪圈。该词1925年最早出目前美国。

梳理近期15年的猪价变化，大致有5个猪周期。从波峰来看，分别出目前2001、2004、2008、2011年和今年。猪周期的循环轨迹一般是：肉价上涨母猪存栏量（numbers of sows on hand）大增生猪提供增加肉价下跌很多淘汰母猪生猪提供降低肉价上涨。一个完整的猪周期一般在2-3年左右。
